Padre Bell, dopo aver tolto gli abiti ecclesiastici e aver sposato la sua Poppy, tornando a essere Tyler, si mette a studiare teologia, mentre sua moglie lavora parecchie ore al giorno, spesso rientrando a orari notturni, con Anton, quest’uomo ricco che proviene dagli stessi ambienti aristocratici di Poppy.
Anton suscita la gelosia di Tyler
a tal punto che quest’ultimo mette in discussione tutta la sua vita, il suo
matrimonio, la sua scelta di abbandonare il clero. Durante un litigio, avvenuto
dopo un rapporto consumato per rabbia, Poppy svela a Tyler che Anton è gay.
Tra alti e bassi di questo
rapporto matrimoniale dove il dominante Tyler e la schiava Poppy si comprendono
meglio dialogando con i corpi che non con le parole, Poppy scopre di attendere un
bambino, proprio qualche settimana prima di Natale.
La notizia coglie di sorpresa la
donna, che prova sentimenti ambivalenti riguardo alla gravidanza, mentre Tyler
la vede come una benedizione di Dio e l’occasione per ritrovare la serenità
nella sua famiglia, almeno fino a quando Poppy perde il bambino.
Sarà durante la messa di
mezzanotte, però, che qualcosa in loro cambierà…
Ed eccoci qui. Padre Bell è
sicuramente un personaggio che non dimenticherò, se non altro per la capacità
dell’Autrice di mescolare così bene il sacro e il profano.
Mi è piaciuto il carattere di
Tyler, a volte padre Bell, a volte “il buon Tyler”, in grado di capire i
bisogni di sua moglie come pochi uomini sanno fare nella realtà. Sa essere
dominante in camera da letto, quando si tratta di giocare, ma sa essere dolce e
affettuoso nella vita. Di sicuro un uomo devoto che ci fa riflettere su quanto
possa essere sottile il filo che lega il piacere dell’anima con quello della
carne. Come può essere peccaminoso l’amore, in qualsiasi sua forma?
La lettura è stata scorrevole e
piacevole, a tratti davvero erotica, a tratti commovente senza mai essere
noiosa.
La parte che preferisco è il
finale, non scontato e che mi ha lasciato un sorriso sulle labbra.
Sicuramente un libro da leggere!

And here we are. Father Bell is definitely a character that I’m going to don’t forget, if only for the ability of the Author to mix so well the sacred and the profane.
I liked the character of Tyler, sometimes Father Bell, sometimes "good Tyler", able to understand the needs of his wife as few men can do in reality. He can be dominant in the bedroom, when it comes to playing, but he knows how to be sweet and affectionate outside. Certainly a godly man that makes us think about what can be thin the thread that links the pleasure of the soul with the flesh one. How can love be sinful, in any form?
The reading was smooth and pleasant, sometimes very erotic, at times moving without ever being boring.
My favorite part is the end, not taken for granted and that left me with a smile.
Definitely a book to read!
